Alles begann im Herbst 2009 mit einem spontanen Gitarrenriff von Toni, was eine unerklärlich balladige Stimmung beherbergte. Eine dezente Bassline und ein wenig Schlagzeugaction dazu — und die Grundstimmung im Lied war klar. Die anderen Passagen kamen später nach, wobei ein passender Refrain, der auch genügend abgeht, nicht einfach zu finden war und erst während der sogenannten „Monkey-Beer“-Session von Toni und André (nach dem damaligen working title) entstand.
Da der Text scheibchenweise immer wieder ein Stückchen entstand, nahm sich André letztlich noch die Zeit, alles irgendwie zu einem sinnvollen Gesamtwerk umzuschreiben. Die anfangs melancholische Grundstimmung sollte erhalten bleiben, aber durch den fröhlicheren Refrain auch ein Stück Hoffnung aufkommen. So wurde aus Made of Time eine Geschichte vom Leben, wo nicht alles einfach läuft und von den Menschen, die einem wieder auf die Füße helfen.
